Aerial spray conducted in Pishin to clear crops from locusts
FC North provided a helicopter to conduct spray in Ajram area of Pishin

An aerial spray was conducted in Balochistan’s Pishin district to clear the area from locusts. The aerial spray conducted with the support of frontier corps north cleared 340 hectares area from locusts, the Deputy Commissioner Pishin, Qaim Lashari told the daily Quetta Voice on Sunday.
Locusts invasion in various parts of Pishin district has severely damaged standing crops, causing financial losses to growers and farmers in the area. The district administration Pishin and agriculture department had requested the FC north to provide a helicopter to conduct spray in the area.
After clearing the area from locusts, the growers heaved a sigh of relief in Ajram and surrounding areas. “We are committed to supporting our growers in these difficult times”, the Deputy Commissioner Pishin said.
Currently, 31 out of 33 districts of Balochistan are under locusts attacks. “These locusts are indigenous and we fear locusts attacks from Muscat and Iran this month”, Arif Shah, the director plant protection agriculture department Balochistan told the daily Quetta Voice.
He said the indigenous locusts have caused damages to standing crops in Balochistan. He however warned that locusts from Iran and other countries would severely damage crops in the province.
The government has already put the agriculture department on high alert to tackle the situation in the aftermath of locusts attacks in Balochistan.
