Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan staged a walkout from the meeting of the annual plan coordination committee with regard to development schemes in the country in the fast-approaching national budget.

“Balochistan has been ignored in all development schemes under federal public sector development program”, a key leader of ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) told the daily Quetta Voice while quoting the Chief Minister.

Finance Minister Balochistan, Zahoor Buledi also staged a walkout from the meeting and demanded of the federal government to include development schemes from the province into FPSDP. Last time, the federal government had allocated Rs. 80 billion for Balochistan in FPSDP but only 53 percent of funds were released, Mr. Buledi told the daily Quetta Voice.

Balochistan has been lagging behind all other provinces in key social indicators and the provincial government has demanded of the federal government to launch mega projects to bring the province at par with parts of the country.

“We cannot develop Balochistan with meager resources, the federal government must allocate substantial funds to develop the province”, the BAP leader who declined to be named mentioned.
