QUETTA: The Balochistan health department on Thursday confirmed 66 new cases of the novel coronavirus. With the confirmation of new cases, the total number reached 1725.

According to a statement released by the Corona Cell Balochistan, a total of 476 tests were conducted on Thursday, and out of them, 66 were declared positive. The Corona Cell has hitherto conducted over 13,000 tests in Balochistan. The virus has caused 24 deaths in Balochistan so far.

Most of the cases are locally transmitted, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman for Corona Cell told the daily Quetta Voice. He said the cases continue to spread fast in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.

The virus has affected 17 districts including Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. District Pishin, Jaffarabad, Killa Abdullah have been hit hard by the virus that has sent alarm bells across the province.
