Mastung Jail

From Our Correspondent

MASTUNG: Two prisoners mysteriously escaped from Balochistan’s Mastung Jail on Monday. The prisoners were behind bars in narcotics cases, a senior district administration official who declined to be named told daily Quetta Voice.

Jail administration launched a search operation for the arrest of escaped prisoners. However, no progress in terms of arrest was made till the filing of this report. The Inspector-General Prisons reached Mastung on a surprise visit as an investigation into the incident went underway.

Inquiry into the incident has been ordered, the official said. Mastung is considered to be one of the sensitive districts of Balochistan. Escaping of prisoners put a question mark on the performance of jail administration.

Militants in the past had attacked security forces, Zaireen (Shia Pilgrims), and pro-government politicians in the area.
