Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal meeting opposition members

QUETTA: Treasury and opposition benches in Balochistan Assembly vowed to join hands against the novel coronavirus in the province. Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan held a meeting with opposition members to discuss ways and means to cope with COVID-19 in the province.

The opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly, Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate, former chief minister, Nawab Muhammad Aslami Raisani, Malik Naseer Shahwani of BNP (M) and other opposition members were also present on the occasion. The opposition members presented various suggestions before the chief minister and apprised him regarding the unfolding situation about coronavirus.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the treasury and opposition benches were committed to working together against the deadly virus penetrating globally. “Beyond politics, we are committed to working for the benefit of masses”, Jam Kamal said.

The opposition leader, Malik Sikandar Advocate on the occasion said that a parliamentary committee would be formed to monitor the arrangements and strategies against the coronavirus.

“We are committed to battle this global virus”, the opposition leader said.

This appeared to be a major breakthrough with regard to government and opposition relations in Balochistan. Opposition parties had staged sit-in outside the chief minister secretariat to press the government for taking effective measures to battle the coronavirus.
