QUETTA: The Balochistan government has declared an emergency in all five districts bordering with Iran to contain the novel coronavirus on Tuesday evening. According to a notification issued by the provincial disaster management authority (PDMA), an emergency has been declared in Gwadar, Panjgoor, Kech, Washuk and Chaghi districts of Balochistan province.

The emergency has been declared in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in neighboring Iran, the notification said. The emergency was declared after approval from the competent authority.

Pakistan shares over 900 km of border with Iran where coronavirus has claimed a large number of precious human lives. Pakistan had earlier closed its border with Iran at Taftan. It has been a month since the closure of the border.
