Authorities in Hong Kong said that a pet dog tested ‘weak positive’ for corona virus has been kept in quarantine to halt the spread of deadly virus on Tuesday.

The dog was handed over to the conservation department after its owner was tested positive by doctors in Hong Kong. “We are examining the pet dog too regarding the corona virus”, the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove said in a statement.

Initial tests from dog’s oral, nasal and rectal tests prove weak positive corona virus. However, she said that the dog does not have relevant symptoms.

The conservation department would continue to be in contact with health officials to conduct more tests to make sure proper diagnosis of the pet dog.
